We are at risk of losing the beautiful nature of the British Isles. But there is still time to save it. To support the BBC Wild Isles mission, Catch Digital worked with WWF, RSPB and National Trust to design and build a website that would showcase what the British Wild Isles have to offer and highlight why they are worth saving.
Prismic, Amplify, Next.js, Typescript
Speed was an important factor for this build as the air date of the series gave the project a hard deadline. The site needed to be live and bug free before the tv series released.
Using Prismic, Next.js and Typescript we were able to quickly build a component based website.
Typescript was new to me, and gave a steep learning curve to start with but being a quick learner and asking questions when needed meant this didn't impact the deadline.
As the primary front end developer I established a solid foundation to the website and project by building out a component based system. This systematic approach meant styled components could be consistently used across the site.
A core part of my approach was to ensure maintainability of the site and where possible breaking down components into smaller more manageable chunks, reusing parts where I could - reducing repeated code.
In just 6 short weeks the site was ready to go live alongside the anticipated new series aired on the BBC.
Myself and Catch received great feedback from the client, who were extremely happy with the work we had produced in a short space of time.
